Carlene Spates
Carlene Spates, age 67, of Lafayette, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
She was born in Lafayette to the late Thatcher Spates and Carrie Winford Powell Spates. She retired from Roper after 36 years and was preceded in death by her siblings, Henry Spates, Sue Agnes Spates, Marion Spates, Larry Spates, Betty Mae Spates Bailey, Elgie Spates, and Lougene Wright.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Rosie Spates of Kensington, Ga. and Linda Watson Spates of LaFayette; special niece, Barbara Berry; and a host of other dear nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Cove Road Church of God, 616 North Chattanooga St., LaFayette, Georgia 30728, with Pastor James Brown and other ministers officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Interment will be at LaFayette Cemetery.
