Covenant's Moore Named AVCA All-American

  • Tuesday, November 14, 2017
Covenant volleyball senior setter Schuyler Moore has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America honorable mention team, announced the organization on Tuesday.

Moore becomes the second player in program history to earn All-America honors from the AVCA, joining Chelsea VanDyk.

The award is the capstone of a career that will put Moore down as one of the best setters in program history. The senior from Fort Myers, Fla., was a first team All-USA South performer this season as she tallied 8.77 assists, 3.10 digs, and 1.15 kills per set while helping lead Covenant to the conference championship and a first round win in the NCAA Tournament.

Moore was an All-USA South player for the fourth straight season and also earned first team All-USA South West Division honors for a second straight year.
Her AVCA All-South region first team nod, which was announced last week, was the first of her career.

Moore broke the program's career assists record earlier this season and finished with 3,830 in her four years. Additionally, Moore tallied 21 double-doubles on the year and narrowly missed on two triple-doubles during the season.

The setter's play was elevated when Covenant needed it most this season. She earned USA South Tournament MVP honors after averaging 8.92 assists, 3.75 digs, and 1.42 kills per set to lead the Lady Scots to a tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. At the NCAA Tournament, Moore had 40 assists, 18 digs, seven kills, and five block assists in Covenant's come-from-behind victory over Birmingham Southern in the first round, the program's first win in the NCAAs. For her play in the tournament, Moore was named to the All-Atlanta Regional team.

For her career, Moore tallied 3,830 assists, 1,348 digs, and 657 kills. Her career digs total puts her fourth all-time in program history. She also registered a program-record 211 service aces and had 139 total blocks in 131 career matches (second-most played all-time).
