The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga had nine members of the football program honored with the release of the All-Southern Conference coaches and media teams today. Senior Lucas Webb led the way with a first team selection by the league's coaches.
Webb is the first in school history to earn first team All-SoCon all four years of his career. He finished the season with 43 tackles and three interceptions. He also posted two defensive scores, including a 28-yard fumble return at VMI and a 20-yard pick-6 at Samford.
A native of Northport, Ala., Webb tied UTC's career record with 13 interceptions. He tallied a SoCon record four pick-6s and tied the league mark with five defensive scores overall.
Senior offensive lineman Josh Cardiello and junior tight end Bailey Lenior made the All-SoCon second team offense on both the coaches and media squads. Cardiello was a three-year starter who moved to center as a senior while Lenior caught 14 passes for 120 yards. This is the second career honor for Cardiello, who was also a second-team pick last season.
Junior defensive linemen Isaiah Mack and Derek Mahaffey both made the coaches second team. Mack was third in tackles for the Mocs, with 54, including 7.0 for loss. Mahaffey posted 51 stops and had eight hurries.
Quarterback Cole Copeland, defensive back Jerrell Lawson, return specialist Brandon Dowdell and kicker Victor Ulmo all made the SoCon All-Freshman team. The full list of All-SoCon honorees is available below.
