Frances Tollett Cannon, 87, of Nashville, passed away on November 25, 2017 at Alive Hospice.

She was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Pikeville, Tn., to the late William and Mamie Claire Tollett.

Educated at Tennessee Wesleyan College and McKenzie College, Frances proudly served R.B. Davenport III and his wife, Elizabeth personally as well as the Krystal Company for over 50 years.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was especially blessed by the ministry of the Rev. Dr. Michael Milton.

Though a resident of Nashville for the past five years, Frances’ heart remained in Chattanooga with her many friends, acquaintances, church family, and former co-workers.  All of you that were loved by Frances are known to yourselves; it is from fear of omission that the names of those she cared for are not listed.

Her vibrant faith produced endurance that allowed Frances to triumph over five bouts of cancer, a heart attack, and a broken hip.  She was still riding her recumbent bike 90 minutes a day until a recent fall began her decline.  Special appreciation to her earthly caregivers, Dr. J. Patrick Dilworth, the physicians and staff of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and Alive Hospice.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband Bill (1991) with whom she enjoyed years of outdoor adventures.  In recent weeks Frances especially noted the loss of her sister, Sara, on November 28, 2016.

She is survived by her son, Cris (Cindy), granddaughters Katie Cannon, Charlotte, N.C., and Holly Cannon, Nashville; Sarah (Ryan) Chamberlain, Hinsdale, IL and Rachel Thames (Wes) Greenville, SC.  Great-grandsons Nate and Nolan Chamberlain. Her nieces, Beeky (William) Simmons of Pikeville, Avis Crews of Pikeville, and Tina (Gary) Baxter of Tifton, Ga., and her “second son” Terry Hicks, Nashville.

A celebration of Frances’ life will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, at Noon with Dr. Cris Cannon officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frances should be made to: Vanderbilt University Medical, Gift and Donor Services, 3322 West End Avenue, Suite 900, Nashville, TN 37203, (800) 288-0028.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson. Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com
