Marjorie Burger White, 95, died peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 22, 2017.

She was the widow of Daniel Ballard White, and was also preceded in death by her brother and sister, Fred Burger and Frances Hull, and one grandchild.

Surviving are her children, Barbara Arthur, Daniel White, and Betsy Dahlstrom, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Signal Crest United Methodist Church.

Marjorie was born Oct. 29, 1922, to Fred Albert and Lola Webb Burger, grew up in Saint Elmo, and was a member of the 1940 graduating class of Chattanooga High School. She attended Saint Elmo Methodist Church for over 70 years and was active in the Sunday School programs and was a member of the choir.

Following high school, Marjorie attended Edmondson College and was employed by TVA during World War II. When her first child was born at the end of the war, she became the greatest stay at home mom in the world. Many young girls now in their 50s, 60s, and 70s remember her as their Girl Scout leader. Her lifetime dedication to church and civic activities earned her many accolades, including being named Signal Mountain Guild Woman of the Year in 2005.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, at the Chattanooga Funeral Home East, 404 South Moore Road.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Saint Elmo Methodist Church with burial at 12 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
