  • Thursday, November 30, 2017

Corinne "Cori" Fordice (October 19, 1952 - November 28, 2017) went home to be with her Heavenly Father following a brief battle with a rare brain disease. She spent her final days in her home on Lookout Mountain, Georgia, surrounded by family.

Cori was born in Grand Rapids, Mi., then spent her childhood in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of missionary parents. After completing nursing school at Blodgett Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, she returned to Japan to serve as school nurse at the Christian Academy in Japan (CAJ), where she met her husband-to-be, Tim, who was the industrial arts teacher there. They later returned to serve as dorm parents for two years as well. Returning to the States in 1983, they made their home in Chattanooga, where Tim and Cori adopted their three children and Cori enjoyed her work as a NICU nurse and Tim taught at the Chattanooga Christian School. Cori also treasured her volunteer work with Bethany Christian Services as a foster parent and Choices Pregnancy Center as an imaging nurse.

Cori is survived by her husband, Tim, and their three children, Shelley (Susan), Tyler (Bethany), Tasha (Ryan), and four grandchildren, Dominick, Troy and Cole, and Kaiya. Over the years, Cori and Tim have been caregivers for Cori’s mother Eloise VanderBilt and Tim’s mother Rosemary Fordice. Cori is also survived by her sisters Lori, Lois, Debbie, and Joni, her brother Monty, and her sister-in-law Robin Damrill.

The family expresses their thanks and appreciation to Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, their pastors, and the members of Cori and Tim’s Bible Study Groups.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Choices Pregnancy Center and Bethany Christian Services.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church. A short visitation will be held at the church Friday, Dec. 8, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The funeral service will follow from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A small luncheon for family and invited guests will follow the funeral service. Interment will be private to family and those guests after the luncheon at the Memory Garden next to the church.
