UTC has reached a $50,000 settlement with a fired WUTC reporter.

UTC  Chancellor Steve Angle said, “UTC values both the editorial independence of WUTC and high journalistic standards of ethics. I have made that commitment clear to both the University community and to WUTC employees.”

Jacqui Helbert was fired following reporting on the "Bathroom Bill" at the state legislature.

Lawmakers said she did not identify herself as a reporter when she was with students inquiring about the transgender bathroom bill.

She said she was wearing radio earphones and a mic.
