Pareti, John Stephen (Chatsworth)

John Stephen Pareti, 70, of Chatsworth, Georgia for the last thirty years and formally of New Orleans, died on Sunday February 19, 2017 at Hamilton Medical Center after a long battle with diabetes and heart disease.

Mr. John Stephen Pareti was born, August 23, 1946 to the late John D. Pareti and Margaret Tarpani Pareti; and was also preceded in death by his son, Stephen “Stevie” Pareti; and sister, Linda Rose Mayeaux.

Before coming to Dalton State College where he retired after 24 years, he was in the furniture business, where he operated and owned a number of stores in South Louisiana. He also owned and operated a grocery store in Spring Place; Crossroads grocery.

He was a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife, a loving father to his two sons, Michael and Stevie and cherished son to his parents and a good friend to his co-workers at Dalton State College. John was a good Christian man and his faith in God was strong and unwavering.

Mr. John Stephen Pareti is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Cheryl Christina Paret; son, Michael Pareti; many nieces and nephews; special god-child and niece, Laura Mayeaux Treadway; and special friend and god-child, Christopher Campbell.

The service to celebrate the life of Mr. John Stephen Pareti will be held Friday February 24, at 2 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel, with Reverend Tamlyn Collins officiating. Interment will follow at United Memorial Gardens with, Dwight Massengill, Dean Paul, James Davis, Mitch Cooper, Mike Masters and Brian Browder serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday February 23, from Ponders Melrose Chapel from 3-7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Friday February 24, until the service hour.

Ponders Melrose Chapel 138 Melrose Drive Dalton, GA, has charge of the arrangements.
