East Chattanooga Recreation Center is rocking on Thursdays.  Instead of playing computer games as a reward for completing their Lexia lessons, they decided to give basic piano lessons. An East Chattanooga Rec Center band may be having its beginning.

Fellow tutor and pianist Ron Lowe, together with Education Enrichment Tutor Valitus Edwards, Sr., identified children who possessed natural musical talents at the Center.

"We seek to encourage this interest.  We're looking for organizations and individuals to volunteer to give lessons or donate electric portable pianos for take-home assignments. We're teaching bass guitar and percussion too.  What if our children joined bands instead of gangs," Mr. Edwards said.

To find out more or to volunteer, contact Mrd. Edwards by emailing calovepeaceandhappiness@comcast.net or calling 423-903-1460.
