Blood Donors Needed Before Storms Arrive

  • Wednesday, March 1, 2017
Blood Assurance is asking the community to donate blood before the hazardous weather arrives. Several high school blood drives have been cancelled due to school closings, and one third of Blood Assurance’s donors are high school students. The organization asks the community to stop by a local Blood Assurance donor center and help replenish the blood supply needed by area hospital patients. Blood Assurance is in need of all blood types as supplies remain low due to the effects of the flu and other illnesses across the region.

All blood donors will receive the attached Boy Scout themed T-shirt as a thank you for donating.
To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 18 years old (17 and 16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids - avoiding caffeine - and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating.
