Justin Brooks capped the Lee University Track & Field program's first trip to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships with a fifth-place finish in the 400 meter dash.

"Justin has gained a ton of confidence this weekend," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "I am so proud of his achievement. We are blessed to have him for two more years."

Myles Pringle of Ashland University was the event winner with a time of 46.39. Khari Herbert Jr. of Saint Augustine's University was second at 46.97.
In third place was Joshua Cunningham (Johnson C. Smith University) with a mark of 47.01 and stopping the clock at 47.17 for fourth was Faedian Royes of Lincoln (Mo.). Brooks crossed the finish line at 47.57. The time was a personal best and a Lee record.

With Brooks' four points, the Flames finished 38th out of 54 teams that recorded at least one point. There were 84 total men's teams represented at the championships.

The sophomore qualified for Saturday's final by finishing seventh in Thursday's first round with a mark of 47.84.
