Annual Steiner Scholarship Awarded To Ruby Falls Employees

  • Monday, March 13, 2017

Ruby Falls, LLC honored two employees with the annual John Thomas Steiner, Sr. Memorial Scholarship. Ruby Falls’ scholarship committee has chosen students Alyssa Boates-Miller and Elizabeth Hayes for their outstanding collegiate efforts, awarding each of them $2,500. This scholarship honors the memory of “Jack” Steiner, Sr., former president of Ruby Falls, who believed in the goodness of young people and the furtherance of their academic pursuits.

Mo Steiner, widow of Jack Steiner, represents the family in awarding the memorandums annually.

Boates-Miller is an accountancy major at the University of Memphis and has worked at Ruby Falls since 2010. She attended Foley High School in Foley, AL and has been on the Dean’s list for the last three years. She participates in Jesus Cares, a church-funded organization that seeks to provide Christmas presents and groceries to those who need them in the community. When not studying or working, she enjoys embroidery and sewing in her spare time.

Hayes is a biology and zoological studies major at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has worked at Ruby Falls for three years. She attended Walker Valley High School in Cleveland, TN where she participated in marching and concert band and was a member of the National Honor Society. She is currently a member of the Zoology Club at UTC and is completing an internship with the Chattanooga Zoo. In her free time, she enjoys being involved with UTC’s campus ministries, including Campus Crusade for Christ and The House. Both students reside in Chattanooga.
