Ernest “Harold” Shepherd, 88, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on his birthday, Monday, March 20, 2017.
He was the son of the late John and Nettie Holt Shepherd.
Harold was a member of Central Church of Christ. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Whitfield County Schools after 33 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Shepherd of Dalton; children, Cara and Chris Keith of Nashville, TN, and Michael and Wanda Shepherd of Athens, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Joann Shepherd of Rocky Face, J.T. Shepherd of Rocky Face and Martha Shepherd of Dalton; grandchildren, Emma and Clint Peyton, Sara Keith, and John Allen Keith; faithful dog, Star; nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Harold’s special doctors, Dr. Eric Jenson, Dr. Brian Kim, Dr. Joe Veys, Dr. Carl Lancaster, and Dr. Bates Bailey for their care.
Funeral services for Harold will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 at Central Church of Christ with Jerrie Barber and Ross Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church.
