Lee University and the city of Cleveland will host the 15th annual 65 Roses 5K and 17th annual Great Strides walk to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on Saturday, April 1 with the flat and fast 3.1-mile race set to begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Paul Conn Student Union on Lee’s campus.
Early packet pickup will be held on Friday, March 31 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Terra Running Company. Saturday’s race-day registration will begin at 7 a.m. while the walk registration will open at 9.
Early registration is $30 until March 31 and $35 on Saturday. Checks can be made payable to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Each participant will receive a moisture-wicking shirt and a “mystery goodie.”
The USATF certified 5K course winds through the Lee campus and parts of Cleveland’s Historic District.
Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners in addition to the top three finishers in each of 12 age groups. All winners will receive ceramic coffee mugs.
Last year’s main event had 502 finishers with Joseph Crook being the overall winner in 16:59. Amanda Cotter was the overall women’s champ as she finished 10th in 19:16.
Josh Humphreys and Jan Gautier both finished second with times of 17:25 and 20:04, respectively.
