CARROLLTON, Ga. – A perfect spring day was made even better For the Cleveland State Cougars when they swept West Georgia Technical College.
The Cougars (27-11) took game one 2-1 and then got a 7-0 win in game two.
Cleveland State head coach Mike Policastro was pleased by the performance of pitchers Ryan Lloyd and Grant Crosby, who threw in game one and game two respectively.
“Ryan Lloyd tossed a complete game for the win and Grant Crosby threw six shutout innings,” Policastro stated.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead over their hosts in the third inning. Sean McDermott knocked the ball over the fence in the third inning for a solo homerun that turned out to be the go-ahead run of the game. West Georgia Technical answered with one run in the bottom of the third.
In game two, Cleveland State picked up all seven of their runs in the third inning.
Trent Elliot had a three-run triple, while Joey Roberson, Chase Fullington and Sean Coakley each had an RBI.
The Cougars host Southwest Tennessee Community College in the first game of their conference series
on Thursday at
2 p.m.
