Thomas Freeman Powell, 75, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus, on April 22, 2017.

 

Freeman was born and raised in Ward, AL.  He graduated from Sumter County High School and served in the United States Marine Reserves.  He was a member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church.  Freeman was involved in Men’s Ministry Network, Tres Dias of Southeast TN, and Master Gardeners.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Bertie M. Powell; father, Jesse Norman Powell and a sister, Bessie Nell Richardson.

 

He is survived by his children, Laura Simmons, Kingston, TN, David Powell, Hixson, Jessica Stamper, Ooltewah; mother, Marilyn Powell, Fairhope AL; brother, Perry Powell; sisters, Camilla Lewis, Ruth Sheffield, and Becky Breazeale and his grandchildren, Claire and Luke Simmons, Ben, Jake, Nathan and Matthew Powell, Kate and Beth Stamper.

 

The family will receive friends at Stuart Heights Baptist Church, Chattanooga Campus, 3208 Hixson Pike, Saturday, April 29, from 2-4 p.m. Service will follow at 4 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stuart Heights Baptist Church or Men’s Ministry Network of Chattanooga.
