UTC Softball Travels to Furman

The Chattanooga Mocs softball team closes out the regular season on Thursday and Friday with a three-game series in Greenville, S.C., against the Furman Paladins.

First pitch for Thursday's doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m. while Friday's single game is at 1 p.m.

These are the last regular season games for both teams and the final standings are looking to be set heading into post-season play. Furman (29-20, 9-5 SoCon) is currently in a three-way tie for first place in the conference standings with UNCG and ETSU as the Mocs look to play spoiler against the Paladins.

Furman is coming off a weekend where they dropped two of three games in Johnson City against ETSU. It was their first conference series loss of the season as they have swept Western Carolina, taken two of three from Samford and Mercer and split a rain-shortened series against UNCG. The Paladins boast three .300 hitters as Brittany Houston leads the offense with a .337 average in 47 games played. Furman features one of the top pitching staffs in the SoCon with Lindsey Bert leading the way as she carries a 17-10 record with a 2.04 earned run average while striking out 175 in 174.2 innings pitched.
