Vivienne Kulicke was a three-time open division winner Sunday and former UTC player Ken Koelling (Meredian, Miss.) won a pair of age division championships to highlight Sunday’ finals of the Icy Hot TVOC Tennis Championship at the Manker Patten Tennis Center.
Three Titles: Kulicke (Hamburg, Germany/Univ. Texas El Paso) started the day with 6-1, 6-1 triumph against Calhoun High School star McCartney Kessler in the Women’s Open Singles final, followed by a Women’s Open Doubles win with Kamila Galieva and closed out the day teaming with Mario Urquidi in the Mixed Open Doubles.
A Former Moc Wins, Twice: Former UTC and Southern Conference singles and doubles champKen Koelling (1976-80), defeated former Baylor School star Bayly Taff for the Men’s 55s crown, followed by winning the Men’s 55s Doubles title with Scott Shepherd against Wesley Cash-Pem Guerry.
Golf Note:UTC had a good day on the links as well, as alum Stephan Jaeger won the Rust-Oleum Championship (Inahoe, Ill.) and will compete in the U.S. Open later this week.
