Virginia Sisk
Virginia Ruth Carlton Sisk, 81, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on July 8, 2017. Her life was characterized by her faith in Jesus Christ, missionary service and her devotion to her husband and family.
Virginia was born on Aug. 5, 1935, to Charlie and Pearlie Carlton in Nortonville, KY. She was married to Donald R. Sisk on June 7, 1952, in Nortonville, KY. She and her husband served as missionaries with Baptist International Missions, Inc. (Japan and Home Office) from 1964 until the time of her death. She was a member of Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, CA.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Carlton, mother, Pearlie Carlton, sister, Eudina McIntosh, and brother, Wallace Carlton.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Donald R. Sisk; daughter, Renee Sisk Border and son-in-law, Thomas A. Border of Miamisburg, OH; son, Timothy R. Sisk and daughter-in-law, Donna Chappell Sisk of Wheaton, IL; six grandchildren: Rebecca Border Sietman (Daniel), Cassandra Ruth Brotbeck (Brad), Blake Sisk (Kate), Katie Sisk, Mallory Sisk Bope (Jeffrey), Gabriela Sisk; seven great-grandchildren: Nathaniel and Alicia Sietman, Emmalina Brotbeck, Cooper and Otto Sisk, Jay and Virginia Bope; three sisters: Norma Cavanaugh, Betty Fugate, Mildred Stanley; brother Donnie Carlton; and sister-in-law Sue Hopper.
Viewings will take place on Thursday, July 13, from 6-8 p.m. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home Valley View Chapel (7414 Old Lee Hwy, Chattanooga, TN) and Friday, July 14, from 12-1:45 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church (7815 Shallowford Rd., Chattanooga, TN). The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Dr. Timothy R. Sisk officiating. Burial will take place Saturday, July 15, at 1 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church in Nortonville, KY.
