Vina Louise Gerrard Childress, 87, of Dunlap died at her home Wednesday, July 19, 2017 . 

Mrs. Childress was preceded in death by her parents, William Wesley and Una Pearl Henson Gerrard and a grandson, Wesley Evans. She was a member of Dunlap First Baptist Church. 

She retired from Sun Trust Bank with several years of service. She was a member of Cherokee Chapter 301 of Eastern Star. She was a Rainbow Advisor, member of DeMolay Mom, She taught reading at Adult Education in Sequatchie County School, taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church for many years. She was on the Election Commission and volunteered at Dunlap Coke Ovens. 

Survivors include, daughter, Vina (Marc) Evans, Murfreesboro, Tn. and a son, Chip (Melissa) Childress, Springboro, Oh., 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth Johnson, Julia Evans, Olivia Brent, Samuel Evans, Hannah Grant, Coley, Julienn, Natalie, Joseph and Nathaniel Childress, 2 great-grandsons, Lincoln Childress and Luke Grant. 

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. CDT Friday, July 21 in Ewton Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Hixson Cemetery. Visitation; 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
