Glenn David Rickett, 74, of Ringgold, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 27, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was a graduate of Lakeview High School, class of 1961. After high school, he served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps for six years and he was a true patriot.  Glenn was of the Baptist faith. He was always a passionate sports fan from being captain and quarterback of his high school football team to greatly enjoying golf with his friends in recent years. During the 1970s and 1980s, he played and coached several slow pitch softball teams in the Chattanooga area. He also coached several little league sports teams in earlier years.  He took pleasure in the grandchildren’s participation in sports.

Before retirement, he was a partner for 25 years with Bodie-Rickett & Associates, a wholesale food brokerage company in East Tennessee. Prior to that, he was a sales representative for several major consumer product companies. He was a member and past quartermaster of VFW Post 1289. Known affectionately as “Bob” to his family and friends, he felt his success could be measured in the lives of his children.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Sivley; father, Jefferson Davis Rickett; and brother, Charles Rickett.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Trinka Mercer Rickett; son, Jeffrey D. Rickett, Cedartown, Ga.; daughters, Karen (Tim) Baxter, Jasper; Rhonda (James) Rodgers, Ringgold; brother, David (Tammy) Smith, Jasper; sisters, Cathi (John) Barnett, Huntsville; Deanna (Roger) Burk, Soddy Daisy; grandchildren, Brooke, Bradley and Bailey Baxter, Jasper, and Brett, Haley and Garrett Rodgers, Ringgold.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 31, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with special friend, Charles Kerin officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corp.
