In front of a large crowd Friday night, former NASCAR Camping World Truck series winner Joey Coulter of Miami Springs, Fl., won his first career Super Late Model feature at Crossville Speedway on the Cumberland Plateau just West of Knoxville.

Winning the $4,000 Ultimate SLM event fourth-starting Coulter took command with a bold first-lap slide job over polesitter Billy Ogle Jr. (# 201) of Knoxville and held back a hard chargin' Ross Bailes of Clover, S.C.

"I just can't thank my guys enough ... we have gone through some struggles and I'm surprised we haven't killed each other yet, because we've worked so hard," Coulter said, from Victory Lane. "We made the call to drop off the World of Outlaws Late Model tour and switch over to these Longhorn Chassis. I think that's the best decision collectively we've ever made, because my gosh, these cars, they match my style and these guys have done an awesome job adapting to 'em."

Once Coulter took command in the 40-lapper, Donald McIntosh tangled with fellow front-row starter Billy Ogle Jr. on the second lap and retired after nosing into the inside wall. "RAMBO" Dennis Franklin ran in the top five the first half of the race but retired after 27 laps. Bailes started ninth and finished second in the 40th anniversary Barry Wright Race Cars house car, rubbing past Billy Ogle Jr. for the runner-up spot on restart with four laps remaining.

Coulter's # 2C "Rum Runner Racing, Black Rifle Coffee, Broward Armature & Generator, CIV Driver Optimization, FishWithMe.net, Molecule, Simpson, Race-Fan, Darrell Gwynn Foundation, Burning Bright Band, Dean Guitars, Shell Shock and Tempest Cycles} sponsored racecar is powered by Cornett Racing Engines.

Maryville, Tn.'s Jason Welshan earned some valuable points towards Tyler Millwood for the 2017 Ultimate series championship finishing two positions ahead of current points leader Tyler Millwood of Cartersville, Ga. Ogle Jr. set fast time Friday with a lap of 12.014 seconds. Hometown favorite Jesse Lowe continued his dominance in Crossville's Crate Late Model division, winning again from the pole position.

Next week Crossville Speedway continues with its second have of Tennessee SpeedWeek with the Winged Outlaw Sprint Cars of the Lucas Oil ASCS series on Friday night, Aug. 25, along with Crate, Sportsman, Super Street and Mini Stocks (under KMSA rules).
