Dr. Dyer To Present BLADE Update At CBCC "Food for Thought" Sept. 21

Director of Cleveland City Schools Dr. Russell Dyer Ed.D. will be the featured speaker for the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce September “Food for Thought” membership luncheon.  Dr. Dyer will be speaking on the recent developments and upcoming plans for the BLADE (Blended Learning and Digital Enhancement) project.  The third-quarter “Food for Thought” noon membership luncheon will be held at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Sept. 21 at noon. 
 
Dr.
Dyer started as the Cleveland City director of schools on July 1, 2016. Before coming to Cleveland, Dr. Dyer was chief of staff for Collierville Schools in Collierville, Tennessee for two years, a school system similar to Cleveland with eight schools and 8,000 students. He was instrumental in the formation of Collierville Schools which began in 2014, after splitting from Shelby County Schools. 
 
Prior to opening the Collierville School system, Dr. Dyer was a high school principal, middle school principal, human resource specialist, assistant principal, and teacher in Shelby County Schools. He was awarded the Tennessee PTA Outstanding Principal of the Year in 2011 and Rotary Club Teacher of the Year in 1999. Dr. Dyer holds a doctorate of education from Trevecca Nazarene University, a master’s degree in education from FreedHardeman University and a bachelor’s degree from Lambuth University.  
 
The Chamber’s Small Business Committee offers the “Food for Thought” programs to provide a menu of diverse topics of interest to the community, officials said. The “Food for Thought” Dutch-treat luncheon requires reservations to facilitate room setup and food. Chamber members who would like to use admission credits to attend should call the Chamber office to register.
