A 6.6-acre site is being proposed for a commercial retailer at Jenkins and Standifer Gap Roads in East Brainerd.

Mark Hawkins of Hawkins Commercial Properties is making the rezoning request.

The site is located on the west side of Jenkins Road approximately 1,500 feet from the Jenkins Road and Standifer Gap Road intersection.

The site currently has a single-family dwelling on the western lot and is vacant on the rest of the site. The northern lot has a commercial building with access off Jenkins Road. To the north is the Standifer Gap Recycling Center. To the west and south are single-family detached dwellings. To the west are office, commercial uses, and multi-family residential dwellings.

Property owners are James Howard; Stacy Francisco and Stephen and Julie Crockett.

The Regional Planning Agency staff is recommending approval.

The case goes before the Planning Commission on Monday at 1 p.m. at the County Courthouse.
