DALTON, Ga. - The #2-ranked Dalton State Roadrunners performed well in the second round of the Carpet Classic Collegiate Classic, posting a team score of (+7, 295) and sit in 11th overall.
All-American S.M.
Lee
led the Dalton State contingent on the day with a (-4, 68). Lee played a flawless front side with birdies at Nos. 2, 3, & 5 to make the turn at (-3). The back 9 would get a bit interesting after a three put bogey at No. 11, but he would bounce back with birdies at Nos. 13 & 15 to move up the leaderboard 27 spots, and finish tied for 17th.
Sophomore Sport Allmond
continued to play a solid tournament, carding a (+2, 74) on Saturday. He notched an opening birdie at No. 1, and would par out the front 9 to make the turn with a (-1, 35). A bogey at No. 10 set him back to (E) and a double-bogey at No.14 had him come in at 39.
Senior Chase Cole
put up a solid number of 74 to match Allmond with the second lowest Roadrunner score of the day. An opening nine of 38 featured bogeys at Nos. 4 & 8, but an eagle at No. 12 would put him back to (E) on his round. A closing double-bogey at No. 15 would see him slip a bit down the rankings to a tie for 17th overall.
Sophomore Ben Rebne
once again had an up-and-down round, but closed strong. His front 9 featured two birdies, three bogeys, and one double-bogey, making the turn at (+4, 40). The back 9 would be a struggle early with double-bogeys at Nos. 12 & 14, but three birdies in his last four holes saw him finish with a (+7, 79).
Dalton Johnson
had a uncharacteristically bad start to his round with a (+9, 45) on his opening nine. He would turn it around on the back with birdies at Nos. 12 & 14 to finish with a (+8, 80).
The #2-ranked Roadrunners will be back in action tomorrow in the final round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic. They will be paired with (RV) South Carolina and Kennesaw St. and will tee off hole No. 10 beginning at 9:17 a.m.
