Stout, Orlene (Decatur)

Orlene Stout, 85 of Decatur, passed away on September 14, 2017 at his residence. 

He was retired from the United States Coast Guard with 23 years of service. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 90 of Decatur and the Central Baptist Church of Athens. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Velma Stout; wife, Guylynn ‘Jean“ Stout; son, Shawn Stout; and several brothers and sisters. 

Survivors include his daughter, Melissa J. Stout of Decatur; his son and daughter-in-law, Steven G. and Toni Stout of Decatur; a brother, Oran Stout of Utica, NY; sisters, Erlene Emlinger of Toledo, Oh. and Patricia J. Nicholson of Mt. Clare, W.V.; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Jamey Davis and the Rev. Mike Bernard officiating. 

Interment will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home prior to the services.
