UTC punter Colin Brewer turns 21 today and a birthday celebration would include a win by the Mocs(0-2) against UT-Martin (1-1) with kickoff at 6 p.m. at Finley Stadium and to have several friends and family members on hand.
"I am not so concerned with what presents I receive on my birthday," said Brewer in a phone conversation Thursday, " I am excited to know 13 or so family members plus friends will be in the stands Saturday night."
While the two-sport all-state athlete at Baylor School, Brewer wants to contribute to the win by keeping the UT-Martin offense bottled up deep in its territory with his long punts - he averages 42.8 yards per punt this season - but would be okay to sit on the sidelines and watch the Mocs offense produce long, time consuming scoring drives which would keep the visitors offense on its sideline.
Christmas at the Brewer Home: Colin is the youngest of nine siblings and recalls Christmas morning being a memorable time as a kid.
"When I was four, five, six years old my older brother Jake would each Christmas morning for several years wake me up at four or five a.m. and alert me to get up because Santa has been at our house leaving lots of presents, " stated Brewer who holds a 3.2 grade point average and is majoring in sports management with a business minor.
"Christmas morning's were hectic and fun growing up as we would frantically open the packages to see what great gifts were left for each of us."
A victory tonight and a good punting performance with family and friends cheering him on is the best present Brewer could wish for as a birthday gift or early Christmas present.
