Mocs Basketball Preparing For 2018-19 Season

  • Thursday, October 18, 2018
The Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball program is hard at work getting ready for the 2018-19 season. That start is approaching like a freight train after three-plus weeks of practice.

“Our process started with developing fundamentals and principles, especially from a defensive standpoint,” Coach Lamont Paris said. “Now that most of those have been implemented, now it's geared more towards an 'X's & O's' stuff on the offensive side of things. We're sharpening things up and putting enough in that we can work towards playing a game.”

It’s been an important preseason camp with just one student-athlete returning from last year’s squad, well one who played more than seven games.
So there’s 10 that no game experience in a Mocs uni.

“We're making the right amount of progress to this point with a young team,” Paris continued. “Not only is it young, almost everyone is new to what we want to do schematically on offense and defense. There's a challenge with that...growing pains…but there's a lot of opportunity too.”

The schedule begins with a road trip to Charlotte on Nov. 6. The Mocs return to Gig City for the home opener Nov. 10 against Eastern Kentucky. First look comes with a Nov. 1 exhibition against Lee at 7 p.m. Don’t miss the Mocs Basketball Tipoff Event on Tuesday, October 30.
