The CCS girls soccer team will make their second straight appearance in the to Division II-A state championship on Friday at 6:30 CST.  The Lady Chargers finished second last year.

CCS's Laura Beth Turner scored both goals in Thursday's 2-0 win over ECS.

Turner's first goal came in the 16h minute and the second came in the 46th minute.

Both goals were unassisted.

"It was a hard fought match," CCS head coach Cal Sneller said.  "Getting the goal early helped calm the girls down. Our defenders played very well against a solid attacking team. Kate Dirkse shut down anything that did come inside. Ellie Montgomery and Bayli Webb played well limiting chances and Lucy Sandhoff really earned her shutout in the goal."

CCS out shot ECS 11-7.   CCS keeper Lucy Sandhoff had three saves.

In the other Division II-A semifinal, CPA rallied to beat defending state champs St. George 3-2.

CPA and CCS will play for the state title Friday at 6:30 CST at Richard Siegel Soccer Complex in Murfreesboro.
