An East Brainerd family was displaced on Chrismas Day after a fire at their residence.
At 12:45 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting a chimney fire at 9129 Quail Mountain Dr.
Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) responded and arrived on the scene reporting flames showing in the attic, roof line and the side of the home. Once firefighters confirmed all residents were out of the house, firefighters conducted an interior attack and quickly contained the fire.
No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but Tri-Community VFD Chief Danny Hague reported the fire started in the chimney.
“Firefighters did a great job extinguishing the fire to where only 25 percent of the house was damaged,” said Chief Hague.
Damages are estimated at $45,000.
