Mildred “Millie” Steele of Jasper, Tennessee, left for heaven on February 16, 2018 after a heroic fight with cancer.  

Millie was born in 1942 in California, but spent most of her adult life in Jasper.  She was employed by Provident Life and by Marion County for many years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Ollie Smith; a sister Diane Huggins; and her husband, James Manson Steele. 

She is survived by her loving son, James Manson Steele II (Patty); her sisters, etty Magrin and Dorothy Kibler; her much loved grandchildren, Kristi (Troy) Morrison, Nick (Alysa) Steele; great grandchildren, Dakota, Kandace Ryleigh, Addalynn; loving companion, Gus Bryan, and several nieces and nephews. 

A memorial remembrance will be held at Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 4-7 p.m., CST. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
