Joseph Donald Murphy, 92, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the family residence.  

He was born on July 31, 1925 to Harry and Icie Murphy.  He proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II.

He was a born again Christian and a member of First Baptist Church and a charter member of Beacon Baptist Church.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Andrew, and Mervin; sisters, Violet Geneva, Ethel; his wife’s, Kathern and daughter, Donna and wife, Wilma.

He is survived by his wife, Nola Rodgers Murphy and children, Sherry and husband, R.B. Goforth; stepson, Ross and wife, Bonnie Torbett; sister, Peggy and husband, Lonnie Gross; special grandchildren, Rebecca and Aaron Morrison; and many nieces, nephews who he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Floyd Boggess and Reverend David Evans officiating. A private graveside service will be held.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home prior to the service.
