Dan is survived by his wife, Nona Hamilton Morgan; his sons, Dan (Monica), Mark (Rachel); two granddaughters Amy Conte and Ashley McLaughlin (Jeremy); great grandchildren Stella and Leo Conte.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Max and Wanda Hamilton, sisters-in-law, Ethel Hamilton, Stella Hamilton, Roberta Hamilton, and many nieces and nephews.

A veteran of World War II, Dan served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator in Guam from 1944-45, working in joint communication activities with various branches of the armed forces.  Typical of the men described in The Greatest Generation, he was one of many Americans whose military experience resulted in deep gratitude for his country and a strong sense of patriotism.

After graduating with a degree from the University of Tennessee, Dan worked as a system’s analyst at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge for 31 years.  He enjoyed his work and valued his co-workers for whom he had great respect and enduring friendship.

Dan will be remembered for his strong intellect, his quick wit, his work ethic, and his ability to bring humor to almost any situation. He loved his family, his country, golf, and the University of Tennessee.

The family will receive friends at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Sunday, March 4, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, March 5 at noon at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga.
