Neshawn Calloway To Perform Empress Of The Blues April 9 At Pilgrim Church

Bessie Smith Music, Empress of the Blues, will be performed by Neshawn Calloway in a free concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 9 at  Pilgrim Church, 400 Glenwood Dr. in Chattanooga.

"Throughout the city of Chattanooga, Neshawn is known for her performances of the Empress of the Blues. Her love of jazz and blues took her to Hamm, Germany in 2012, where she performed for a sold-out audience. As a jazz and blues singer, Neshawn is widely known in the Chattanooga area and performs frequently in various venues, such as The Camp House, Jazzanooga, The Bessie Smith Cultural Center and The Mountain Arts Community Center. She has also performed for the Chattanooga Nightfall series and Riverbend Festival. Neshawn is a classically trained singer, versatile in various genres such as jazz, blues, gospel and rhythm and blues," organizers said. 

A love offering will be taken up for Ms. Calloway and the band.
