A school bus with fifth graders from Middle Valley Elementary on board had a mechanical problem on I-40 near Knoxville Friday afternoon.

The students were on their way home from a trip to WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge. Replacement buses were sent to pick up the children.

One has arrived and is on its way home.  The second bus is loading and will be on its way home soon.

Students evacuated the bus with mechanical issues and were kept safe by law enforcement on the scene while the replacement buses made their way to the location. Parents of the students have been notified of the situation and that the arrival of the children back in Hamilton County will be delayed. All students and staff are safe.
