Dalton Police Department Investigating Armed Robbery

  • Monday, June 11, 2018

The Dalton Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at an area business and investigators are asking for the public’s help with identifying the suspects. The two suspects in the Dalton robbery are also believed to have pulled similar robberies in Calhoun and Bartow County on the same day.

The incident happened at the Discolatin store at 1125 East Walnut Avenue on Saturday. At approximately 3:45 p.m., a man walked into the store and began talking to one of the employees and said that he wanted to make a money transfer. When the employee turned to walk to the money transfer station, the suspect walked behind her and grabbed her wrist and pulled it up behind her back and forced her to the cash register. When another employee noticed what was happening, a second male entered the store and told him not to move “or I’ll pop you.” Neither employee saw a weapon, but they said that both men were holding their hands by their waistbands under their shirts as if they had concealed handguns. The men took approximately $200 in cash from the cash register and then fled the store. They left in a red colored passenger car, possibly a Ford Taurus, that was parked in front of the nearby “Act A Fool” business.

Dalton investigators determined that the same men pulled an armed robbery at a Hispanic-owned business in Calhoun later the same day, getting away with more than $2,500 in cash. They are also suspected in a Saturay  robbery in Bartow County. The suspects are both dark skinned, possibly Hispanic males. The first was thin and wore a blue T-shirt and blue jeans with black shoes and a black baseball cap. The second wore a white shirt with a black stripe and white pants with white flip flop shoes with red markings and a dark baseball cap.

Anyone who recognizes these suspects or who has any information on this crime is asked to contact Detective James Yarbrough at 706 278-9085, extension 9156.
