The rockets red glare blasted off early in the Lookouts home run derby loss to the Smokies 7-5 Thursday night. Chattanooga's loss dropped them to 2-5 in early second half action.

Omar Bencomo allowed three home runs in six innings of work. He struck out six and allowed five earned runs on four hits.

Cody Stashak was charged with the loss as he allowed two runs on two hits in the final two innings. He struck out two and walked one.

The Smokies hit two homers in the first inning to gain a three run lead.

Lookouts Brent Rooker would double in the fourth and with an Andy Wilkins blast out of the stadium it pulled the Looks within one.

In the fifth inning the Smokies launched a solo shot to add to their lead.

Rooker would hit two home runs and Brian Navaretto one on the night but it was the two run round-tripper by Smokies Ian Rice that broke the tie for the win in the eighth.

Rooker finished the day 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBI, and added his 17th double. Wilkins and Brian Navarreto chipped in with their own home runs.

The Lookouts only had one at-bat with a runner in scoring position and only four runners were left on base.

RHP Kohl Stewart hasn’t exactly pitched great this season, but the Twins are going to push their 23-year old former first round pick. Stewart was promoted to Rochester on Thursday after posting a 4.76 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP in 68 innings. Things have gone better in his last four starts. In 24 1/3 innings pitched, he has allowed four earned runs (1.48 ERA) while posted a 29 to 8 strikeout to walk ratio.

In a corresponding move, Dietrich Enns was transferred to the Lookouts. The 27-year old Enns had made 12 starts for Rochester and posted a 5.31 ERA with a 1.57 WHIP in 59 1/3 innings
