Chattanooga Couple On Boat That Exploded In The Bahamas

A Chattanooga couple was on a boat that exploded in the Bahamas on Saturday.

An acquaintance said the wife lost her life and her husband, Tyrone, was seriously injured.

Melvin Grimes told NewsChannel 9 that his daughter, Malkea Grimes Jackson, died in the tragic incident.

The couple was on their 15th anniversary trip.

There were nine others injured, including a 22-year-old woman whose legs were amputated. She was in critical condition.

The 40-foot boat was in the water next the town of Exuma.

There was a loud explosion and black smoke began pouring from the disabled craft.
