Magistrate Brown Getting Training From Former Magistrate Brandy Spurgin Floyd

  • Wednesday, July 25, 2018

One of the county's new magistrates, attorney Stuart Brown, is getting special training from former Magistrate Brandy Spurgin Floyd.

The new chief magistrate, Lorrie Miller, had said attorney Brown had made a number of mistakes and she recommended that he be fired. However, the majority of the County Commission chose to give him another chance when he said he wanted to stay on.

The county is paying Ms. Spurgin Floyd $60 per hour for the training that is set to continue through Aug. 14.

At the request of Commissioner Greg Beck, the panel will get a report on the progress made by Magistrate Brown and decide on Aug. 29 whether to keep him or terminate him.
