A city board was initially asked to act Monday to accept three city buildings as surplus property.

Franklin McCallie, a member of a citizen activist group questioning the surplusing, said that action should not take place before the City Council officials declares them as surplus.

The board of the Chattanooga Downtown Redevelopment Corporation later in the meeting was told the items had been pulled.

The buildings include the City Hall Annex across from City Hall, the former Water Company building at 11th and Lindsay and a city building that was used for wellness at Houston Street.

Members of Accountability for Taxpayer Money said they have been seeking to get information from the Berke administration about where the current city employees would go and other items, but have not gotten anything yet.

Kerry Hayes of the mayor's office said recently that the information would be forthcoming. He said the future fate of the buildings and who they wind up with is well down the road.

He said the mayor's office acts with transparency and openness.
