WTCI To Host Free Back To School Screening Of Splash And Bubbles Film "Pole To Pole"

  • Wednesday, August 8, 2018
WTCI invites area families to join the community PBS station for a special, free back-to-school celebration and screening of the new one-hour special film from the hit PBS KIDS series, Splash and Bubbles. “Splash and Bubbles: Pole to Pole” follows the Reeftown Rangers as they set off on a migratory adventure from the Antarctic to the Arctic in this new one-hour Splash and Bubbles event and is the feature film for the Aug. 9 ‘PBS at the Palace’ free film screening event.

‘PBS at the Palace’ is a free, monthly film screening series hosted at the downtown venue, the Palace Theater.
Sponsored by the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, Brody Jewelers and Allied Eye, this screening series features PBS content from Masterpiece to American Experience, POV and Independent Lens and provides a free monthly opportunity for viewers to enjoy quality, trusted programming in a unique Chattanooga venue, officials said.

"Produced by the Jim Henson Company, Splash and Bubbles uses animated stories and live-action content to incorporate themes of diversity, individuality and interconnectedness to celebrate learning and discovery in an exciting underwater world. Inspired by their friend Melody the fin whale, the Reeftown friends take a migration vacation and Chattanooga children will thrill to the adventures. Setting off from the icy Antarctic, the gang meets a mackerel icefish, encounters Pebbles the Gentoo penguin, follows the whistling of a narwhal and finally catches up with Melody in the Arctic just in time to see her at the krill bloom," officials said.

Guests at the free screening will enjoy PBS gifts, resources and educational supplies at the event. Doors open at 6 p.m. and concessions will be available for purchase. Seating is limited and tickets are available online at wtciTV.org/palace.
