  • Monday, September 17, 2018
Covenant men's soccer junior goalkeeper Paul Lemay was named the USA South Defensive Player of the Week, for the period ending on Sept. 16, announced the league on Monday.

The honor is the first of Lemay's career.

The junior from Apopka, Fla., played all 270 minutes at the net for the Scots and helped the team to a 2-1 week, with both wins coming against conference opponents. Lemay collected his first shutout of the year and made six saves in Covenant's 3-0 win at Maryville last Tuesday.
He then made five saves in a loss to Birmingham Southern on Friday. Lemay capped the week by tallying three saves in the Scots' 3-1 victory over Brevard on Saturday.

Lemay leads the conference in save percentage at .806 and in victories with five. He also currently ranks second in saves (29) and is third in goals against average (1.08).

Covenant (5-2, 2-0 USA South) will be back in action at Berea on Wednesday. Match time is set for 6:30 p.m. in Kentucky.
