Paige Simons' golden goal with 11 seconds left in the second overtime lifted the Covenant women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory at Oglethorpe on Monday night in Atlanta.

The win is the second in a row for Covenant (3-4-1).
It was the third double-overtime match the Lady Scots have played this season.

Simons received the ball and worked up the sideline and into the box. The sophomore then chipped a shot from the right side of the box and lofted it over the outstretched arms of Oglethorpe keeper Lindsey Bolas and into the net for the game-winner. The goal was Simons' first of the year and her second career game-winning score.

The goal from Simons capped a back-and-forth match that saw Covenant dominate the stat sheet, but struggle to put the host Stormy Petrels away. The Lady Scots outshot Oglethorpe 30-10 on the evening, however the hosts led 2-1 entering halftime.

Oglethorpe (3-6) scored just over one minute into the contest. A corner kick from Maddie Cornell found Sam Thornton who headed the ball into the back of the net from short distance to give the Petrels a 1-0 lead.

Covenant answered in the 17th minute when Addy Cronan scored the first of her two goals on the night. Cronan received a pass from Kyra Duble and got her shot past Bolas to even the score at 1-1. Oglethorpe would take a one-goal edge into the break when Jordan Wilson cleaned up a loose ball in the box to make it 2-1 in the 37th minute.

Covenant had multiple looks in the second half, including two shots that either hit the post or the crossbar, and finally found the equalizer in the 86th minute when Cronan stepped up and put away a penalty kick. Cronan's second goal gives her five on the year.

In the first overtime session, Oglethorpe had a chance to win the match but Thornton's penalty kick attempt was missed wide left in the 99th minute. The momentum swing rejuvenated the Lady Scots into the second overtime as Covenant outshot the Petrels 5-0, but it was only the final one that counted as Simons scored in the waning moments of the match.

The 30 shots are a season-high for Covenant. Sarah Agee led the way with six attempts for the Lady Scots, while Cronan had five.

Rachel Lemay made two saves on the night for Covenant, while Bolas tallied five saves for Oglethorpe.

Covenant will host Piedmont in a USA South clash on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
