McCallie Golf Team Wins Region Title

The McCallie golf team claimed the Region title Monday, winning the TSSAA Division II-AA East/Middle Region tournament by 10 strokes over the nearest competitor.


The Blue Tornado carded a 286 team total with three players carding scores among the top six scores.


The top four teams in the competition qualify for the upcoming TSSAA Division II State Tournament October 1 and 2 at WillowBrook in Manchester.

Ensworth placed second at 296, followed by Montgomery Bell Academy (298) and Baylor (300). Brentwood Academy, Father Ryan and Lipscomb Academy rounded out the team standings.


Sophomore Joe Carter earned individual medalist honors with the low round of the day, a one-under-par 70, and was the only golfer to shoot under par. Senior Jake Levine finished second with a 71. Senior Jake Allstun tied for third place at 72, and senior Jesse Felker’s 73 tied for seventh. Junior Jack Billups was the fifth McCallie golfer with a 76.
