Fire Damages Church On East 52nd Street

A church in Alton Park was damaged by fire late Sunday night.
 
The fire was reported to the Chattanooga Fire Department at 11:38 p.m.
 
Six fire companies responded to the church at 614 East 52nd St.
Quint 14 arrived first on the scene. Captain John Long reported flames visible through the roof at the rear of the building. 
 
The visible fire was knocked down from the exterior as other crews made entry and transitioned to an interior attack. Incident commander Battalion Chief Chris Willmore called for a second alarm. The fire was brought under control in less than 20 minutes.
 
There was no one in the church at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported. There was significant damage to the interior of the building.
 
No dollar loss has been determined and the cause is under investigation.
