#2 Roadrunners Put Another Solid Day Together At Carpet Capital

  • Sunday, September 9, 2018
Dalton State put another solid score on the board, posting a (+9, 297) to move up one spot and are now tied with Colorado State for 14th after the second round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic at The Farm in Rocky Face on Saturday.

Matthew Cleary led the way for the Roadrunners on Day Two firing a (-1, 71).
Cleary would get off to a hot start with birdies on Nos. 10 & 12 to quickly get to 2-under. A bogey at No. 13 would be negated by a birdie at No. 16. It would be a tough close to his first nine as he double-bogeyed No. 17 and bogeyed No. 18. He would settle down and birdie Nos. 1, 6, & 7 to post his first under-par score as a Roadrunner.

Jack Clark and Sport Allmond would both post (+3, 75) on the afternoon. Allmond would make his turn to the front at (E) after two birdies and two bogeys on his opening nine. He would catch a birdie at No. 2 to get into red figures, but four bogeys to close would hurt his round.

Clark would finish the back 9 at 1-under with birdies on Nos. 10 & 16. He would get to 2-under after a birdie at No. 1, but it would be a rough finish as Clark played his final eight holes at 5-over-par.

Ben Rebne had a rough start to the day with a double-bogey at No. 10 and a bogey at No. 11. He would get one back with a birdie at No. 12, but the rest of his round would feature two bogeys and 13 pars to finish out with a (+4, 76).

Eli Hendricks would be the fifth Roadrunner on the board, finishing with his second straight 83. He will take some momentum to the tee tomorrow after a closing birdie at No. 9.

#2 Dalton State will be in action again Sunday when they compete in the final round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic from The Farm in Rocky Face, Ga. The Roadrunners will tee off No. 10 beginning at 8:32 a.m. and will be paired with Colorado State and Florida.
