Soddy Daisy Police Officer Injured In Accident Early Thursday Morning

  • Thursday, October 31, 2019
A Soddy Daisy police officer was injured in an accident early Thursday morning.

At approximately 1:45 a.m., the CPD Traffic/DUI Unit responded to a crash involving a Soddy Daisy Police Ford Taurus and a Ford Escape.

The Ford Escape was involved in a separate single vehicle rollover crash and came to rest in the south bound lanes on Highway 27.
The crash happened near the Soddy Daisy/Chattanooga line on Highway 27.

Soddy Daisy police were responding to that wreck and were attempting to locate the vehicle.

Due to the heavy rain and fog, and no street lights on Highway 27 in that area, the Soddy Daisy officer was unable to see the Escape as he approached the prior crash and hit it. The driver of the Escape had exited the vehicle and was not inside when it was struck.

The driver of the Escape did not sustain injuries from either crash.

The Soddy Daisy police officer was transported by Hamilton County EMS to a local hospital. Chief Gann of the Soddy Daisy Police Department advised the officer was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
