Injured Rock Climber Rescued At Deep Creek Climbing Wall

  • Tuesday, October 8, 2019

A rock climber called 911 at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday reporting a high fall at the Deep Creek climbing wall at 11111 Old Hotwater Road.

The Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and reported the injured climber, 33, was about 1-1.5 miles in the woods from the parking lot.

Due to the muddy, rocky terrain and the distance of travel to the patient into the woods, Mowbray VFD requested a mutual aid response for additional manpower to the scene to carry the injured climber out of the woods.

The Dallas Bay VFD, Soddy Daisy FD, Sale Creek VFD and Walden’s Ridge Emergency Services responded to assist the rescue efforts.

At 2:15 p.m., rescue personnel confirmed the injured rock climber did not sustain injuries from a high fall. He sustained an injury while rock climbing.

Rescue personnel packaged the injured patient and carried him out of the woods. He was reported out by 4:20 p.m.

A friend was taking him to be checked out at the hospital.
