Police Blotter: Fence At Former Site Of Cheeburger Cheeburger Has $6,000 Damage; Man Using Facebook Marketplace Is Scammed

Police checked out a stolen vehicle behind the Motel 6 at Williams Street. When an officer ran the tag on a brown Kia Optima the vehicle returned as stolen. The owner was contacted by dispatch but did not have a spare key to retrieve the vehicle. United Transport responded and towed the vehicle. Upon their arrival an inventory search was conducted of the vehicle. The search yielded a baggie and a pipe surrounded by white residue located in the center console, a credit card with the name Raven Works on it, and a cell phone. All of the items were taken to property.

There was a shoplifting call at 7307 Lee Hwy. An employee said a black female came into the store, selected items off the shelf and then walked out of the store getting into a white SUV. The SUV was backed up so it was not in view on a security camera when the vehicle left. The complainant stated that the items lost were around $200 but that number could go up once they are able to do a full inventory.

At the Speedway at 1330 E 3rd St., the manager said someone stole a 24-pack of beer from the store. She said the thief entered the store and took a 24-pack of beer (Bud Light) from the beer cooler. The suspect then exited the store passing all points of sale to an unknown location. After reviewing video footage, police saw a black male approximately 40 years of age wearing a black and gray jacket, gray pants, and a gray beanie cap as the suspect. Police were informed this was not the first time the suspect has stolen from the store. The manager was informed to contact police if the suspect returns to the property.

A resident of the 6800 block of Standifer Gap Road said he had found that his UPS delivery had been taken. He said a maroon vehicle, possibly a Toyota Corolla, was seen on his camera pulling up to the house. A white male and female were seen retrieving the package from the property side of the resident's fence and leaving with the box.

There was a call of vandalism at 120 Market St. - the former Cheeburger Cheeburger site. A property manager for Republic Parking said the property owner, George Walls, notified them of some property damage done to the fencing. Walls said someone had cut the fencing and made it to where the fence was barely able to stand. The property manager walked around the fencing and located several spots where the fence looked to have been cut. She was unsure of the amount of damage done to the property, but estimates it to be around $6,000.

There was a theft from a motor vehicle nearby at 2 Market St. at a residence. The victim said that he left his vehicle parked at home around 6:30 pm and it was unlocked with his work laptop inside. The vehicle stayed there overnight and the next morning around 7:30 a.m., he discovered that the inside had been rummaged through and the laptop was gone.

At 526 E Martin Luther King Blvd. police met with victim who stated he was meeting a male at the above address to buy an Iphone 11 Pro from Facebook Marketplace. He said an unknown male by the Facebook name of Justin Golson sold him a fake Iphone 11 Pro for $700. He said after he realized the phone was fake he could no longer get in contact with the Facebook user Justin Golson. The picture shown of the Facebook user "Justin Golson" was a Hispanic or Latino male, about 130 pounds and dark color hair.

Police responded to a vandalism at 6757 Palms Court at a construction site. The complainant, who works for Emerson Properties as the site superintendent, said their utility trailer was last seen when he left there around 3 p.m. When he got back there, he said he discovered that 6 or 7 of the trailer's windows had been broken out with rocks and someone had painted pictures of male genitalia with orange paint on it. He said that he was able to wash off the paint, so the only permanent damage is the windows as far as he knows. He guesses around $2,000-$3,000 total for repairs.
