Rape Charge Dropped Against Jonathan Penland

  • Thursday, December 5, 2019

A rape charge has been dropped against Jonathan Tyler Penland.

Prosecutor AnCharlene told Criminal Court Judge Don Poole that the alleged victim was initially cooperative, but had become hard to reach.

She also said that the defense had located witnesses whose versions of the events differed from the alleged victim.

Defense attorney Bill Speek said, "We have always contended that Jonathan Penland did nothing wrong."

The charge was dismissed "without prejudice" - meaning it could possibly be revived at a later date.
